Event: Training for Volunteer Advocates (CASA Volunteers)

Agency:
Description:
Do you want to make a difference in the life of a child?

Every day in this country, 1,900 children become victims of abuse or neglect, and four of them will die. Our Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) staff recruit, train and support citizen-volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in courtrooms and communities. Volunteer advocates—empowered directly by the courts—offer judges the critical information they need to ensure that each child’s rights and needs are being attended to while in foster care. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and each child is placed in a safe, permanent home.

CASA of McCracken County, under the management of Child Watch Counseling and Advocacy Center, has an ongoing need for citizen-volunteers. We are recruiting for our next training class and invite all who are interested in serving children as a CASA to apply. A 30-hour training program is required prior to service; once training is complete, an average of three hours per week is needed.  Please contact us today for an application if you are interested in being a CASA volunteer!  lhansen@childwatchcac.org,  jmckeel@childwatchcac.org,  or  lemmons@childwatchcac.org
